I protect the privacy of my clients.
I believe that it is more important to share stories than it is to identify the storyteller.
I never publish the names of those I have trained unless they ask to share their story on this site and provide specific written permission to do so.
Clients come to me because they are looking for a "safe place" in which to learn some very important lessons.
Some are high-profile executives. There have been psychologists, community leaders, and university professors. They don't want to have their personal quest for training publicized--and I truly honor that.
The following testimonials offer a taste of the range of circumstances and challenges faced by my clients. They have learned mindfulness skills that have enabled them to transform their way of responding to the world around them and opened all kinds of new possibilities for creativity.
"Maya, you changed my life. For years, I have talked about leaving my job--one I used to love but had lost its lustre for me. You gave me the tools and helped me find the courage to make the break--and I cannot believe the opportunities that have shown up on my doorstep ever since. I cannot thank you enough."
Anna, age 47, former accounting executive
"I had known for a long time that I was no longer using my talents. Instead, I was doing what I thought I should do--chasing the dream that I had allowed to be planted in my mind. With your help, I am now free to live life on my own terms. My marriage, once on the brink of collapse, has been totally rejuvenated. My relationship with my two adult kids has improved to the point that I consider them my best friends. Most of all, I finally found that Wow you keep talking about.
I am deeply grateful for your kindness, your patience, and your willingness to push me so lovingly but firmly despite my initial resistance."
Steve, age 58, school administrator
"When I first contacted you, I didn't even know how to talk about how I felt. The thing is, I didn't have any major problems--it was just that I didn't feel connected to anything. I was not fulfilled and didn't even know what I was looking for. You helped me learn how to see for myself what was missing, and showed me how to take steps to find it. I know you have saved me from years of wandering and wondering. I feel so clear about where I'm going now. Thank you from the bottom of my heart."
Lisa, age 34, physician
"When my mom first told me that she'd signed me up for mindfulness training, I wasn't too excited. I mean, it sounded pretty boring and I didn't see how it could help me at school. Well, I was wrong. First, it wasn't boring--it was fun and I really enjoyed working with you. I think it helps that you have kids my age and understand more about what my life is like. And it has helped me in school in a lot of ways, like not getting too stressed out about my homework, getting along with teachers, seeing my possibilities, and also just being a better friend. My mom thinks I'm much nicer, and we are getting along a lot better than before. I haven't told anyone yet that I have a "mind masseuse" but maybe I will--who knows? It could start a new trend.
Thanks for your help."
Sean, age 16, high school student
"Well, you CAN teach an old dog new tricks! At the age of 72, you would think I'd know about this stuff. It's funny (or maybe it isn't!) how much time you can waste on auto-pilot. I lost a lot of years just going through the motions, but now I feel so much more alive thanks to you! Better late than never, I say! Thanks, sweetheart. You're a sparkling jewel."
Betty, age 72, retired magazine editor
