About Real-World Mindfulness Training™
Looking for a
creative
alternative to meditation?
Through her company, Maya Frost offers a playful, powerful,
eyes-wide-open approach to boosting both awareness and creativity.
Maya is mindful(!) about presenting mindfulness
to diverse audiences, so she keeps things simple and secular.
As a teacher, she understands that people learn best when they are
comfortable, in sync with their natural learning style,
and enjoying the process.
Her approach is based on Howard Gardner's theory of
Multiple Intelligences.
We are smart in at least eight different ways,
and we can learn mindfulness--or anything else--
best when we frame it in terms of our
natural abilities and interests.
Real-World Mindfulness Training™ started out as
a response to many of Maya's clients who were
finding their meditation practice difficult to maintain.
Some were just not finding the time to commit to it.
Some were looking for simple ways to do mindfulness
exercises while engaging in their favorite activities.
Some were turned off by the references to a religion
they do not embrace or by a tone that felt elitist or esoteric.
Maya has been meditating for over 30 years,
so she had come across her share of both
practitioners and teachers who had
inadvertently scared away potential meditators.
It seemed like there should be a way to
present mindfulness without focusing on
the traditional Buddhist approach or
emphasis on stress reduction.
She believed that the vast majority of people
would be more likely to embrace mindfulness
if they could practice this skill in
enjoyable eyes-wide-open ways.
Maya set out to develop mindfulness techniques
that were inviting and
in tune with each individual's interests.
She thought it might be fun to, well,
have FUN with mindfulness.
Real-World Mindfulness Training™ evolved as
a way to blend practical teaching techniques,
the latest neuroscience research on brain plasticity,
and traditional contemplation practices.
Maya stripped out the religious references,
went easy on the science jargon, and
wrapped it all up in a package that is
very modern, fresh, and engaging.
Her focus: awareness and creativity
Her technique: zero in on motivation and relevant learning style
The basic ideas?
1) Mindfulness does not require meditation.
2) Paying attention is a powerful way to
enhance creativity.
3) Fun is a huge motivator, and the
more we enjoy playing with mindfulness,
the more likely we are to develop it.
It’s not difficult to be mindful.
It’s just difficult to REMEMBER to be mindful!
Maya teaches you how to develop the habit of
popping into mindfulness mode
many times throughout the day.
She has helped counselors, coaches, teachers,
health care professionals, business leaders, community activists,
and parents discover simple, enjoyable ways
to get calm, clear and creative.
